In the past, children could involve in various types of activities and play games outside. However, now, due to over-urbanization and the age of the internet, almost all children stay at home and play video games. Therefore, Some people claim that children’s free time activities must be educational. Others are opposed to this idea. It has been a controversial issue for a long time.
Some people believe that children should occupy with educational activities instead of playing games. Firstly, by spending time with educational activities, children can increase their knowledge. They can benefit from this in their future life. No one can deny the fact that children, particularly under 12, tend to learn new things quickly. Moreover, it is beneficial for their mental development. For instance, playing puzzles can enhance children’s mental abilities. Being Involved in educational activities can prevent them from gaining bad habits which can deteriorate their mental development
On the other hand, some parents believe that leisure activities outside school hours are waste of time for children so they do not allow their children to play games. It is important that children also need to develop physical skills and the best way to do this is through activities such as sports and playing games with other children. No one can deny the fact that physical development is essential for children’s in every aspect of their lives. In addition, playing games with other children teach them important social lessons. Many children form strong relationships with the friends who they play with.
To sum up, I believe that children need both to have fun and learn something new. Children should not be forced to engage in the activities which they do not want. However, there should be a balance between both kinds of activities.
