Professor Noha

As a media lecturer, I believe that the impact of internet technology on communication among friends and family is more complex. The digital landscape has indeed introduced new ways of interacting, such as video calls and social media platforms, which can enhance connections across distances. However, excessive screen time might lead to decreased face-to-face interaction. Balancing the benefits and potential drawbacks is essential in understanding the evolving dynamics of interpersonal relationships in the digital age. To what extent do you think that internet technology has destroyed communication among friends and family? Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.

Alex:

As a German student, I believe that while internet technology has certainly changed the way we communicate, it hasn't necessarily destroyed it. The internet provides new avenues for staying connected, especially for long-distance relationships. Video calls, social media, and messaging apps allow us to bridge geographical gaps and share moments instantly. However, it's essential to find a balance. Excessive screen time might lead to reduced face-to-face interactions, potentially impacting the depth of relationships. It's crucial to use technology mindfully and make an effort to maintain meaningful offline connections with friends and family.

Hasan:

In my view, internet technology has only changed communication, not destroyed it. It facilitated communication between family and friends. For example, I can regularly see my relatives living in different cities via video calls. Also, thanks to social media, I can find and communicate with my old friends. However, excessive use can trap people on the screen. However, when internet technology is used correctly, it can strengthen ties and enrich communication.
