Essay Writing Sample 10 - Art, Sport and Music are being dropped for subjects such as Information Technology.

Essay Writing Sample 10

Subjects such as Art, Sport and Music are being dropped from the school curriculum for subjects such as Information Technology. Many students suffer as a result of these changes. To what extent would you support or reject the idea of moving these subjects from the school curriculum?

In today's modern world, Art, Physical Education and Music are believed to lose their importance in the school syllabus. Although students should catch up with the information age, I think subjects like Art and Physical Education should be in the school syllabus. I feel that pupils especially at high schools ought to participate in various sport and art activities.

Education should not be limited only to science and technology as people who want to achieve their goals often need to increase their social intelligence. In other words, they need to understand people’s points and feelings better and can connect with others. This makes them open-minded. Subjects like art and sport can help people to develop their social intelligence. In addition, these subjects teach students to love and share. Students who are interested in sports or art can have different points of view. In this way, they can be successful in their academic and their social life.

Another reason is that these subjects are most likely to help students reduce their stress level. If there are only science and technology subjects in the syllabus, it may cause mental fatigue. For instance, subjects of art can help them get rid of their psychological fatigue. Also, sports increase the endorphin level in their body which results in a feeling of well-being. Besides their psychological impacts, they also have profound physiological effects. Students who are keen on sports are fitter compared to other ones.

To summarize, for me, a syllabus without art and sports can not be effective. These courses should be included in the curriculum for students' social enhancement and mental health.
