Some people believe that the benefits of studying in groups outweigh the benefits of studying alone. Do you agree?
Some projects in which we participate can be challenging for us. Our style of studying is known to help us to deal with those difficulties. Some people may find studying in groups more useful. However, for me, studying alone has more advantages compared to studying in groups.
To begin with, studying in groups can be more beneficial for some students as they believe that sharing knowledge can be more effective. If the group of students they study with consists of learners with different expertise, problems can be solved easily. For instance, if a member of a group is good at science and the other member is good at finance, there will be multiple perspectives. However, if we need to have a quiet space, we can't concentrate in a group of people. In the group, people need to talk and interact with each other and this may disturb us and distract our concentration.
On the other hand, studying alone can be more efficient for some people, especially solitary learners. A solitary learner is someone who prefers learning on their own. These types of students who are self-motivated enjoy studying independently. They can be more creative and productive while studying by themselves. For instance, I am not a social person who can work efficiently in groups. I always struggle in large groups and I always have difficulty in improving my concentration in a noisy environment. I am always in favour of a quiet environment both in my personal and academic life. Thus, working in a quiet environment can be more fruitful for me. As an independent learner, I prefer to set goals and make plans on my own.
All in all, while some people prefer working in groups, I feel that working alone can be more helpful for me. We all have our own, unique way of learning. Knowing how we retain information best will make us more productive.
